What Guests Are Saying
Grant River Campground offers spacious, well-maintained sites with stunning views of the Mississippi River and beautiful sunsets. Visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the facilities and the friendly atmosphere, as well as the proximity to charming towns like Potosi. However, the frequent train traffic nearby can be disruptive for some campers, especially at night.

When I arrived there was a large group with many tents set up on my reserved sight. No oversight by any campground ranger. Fortunately, there was an empty sight nearby on which I was able to set up. Trains were going by blowing their horns all night long making sleep problematic at best. If there had been some warning or notice on the websight I could have brought ear plugs. Probably won't choose this location again.

Lovely spot right on the Mississippi River, with a train track running right by the property…be prepared for a few whistle blasts throughout the day and night. They do have flush toilets and showers (two stalls) just inside the park entrance, so expect a few minute walk or short drive to use the modern facilities. Otherwise, for most campers you will likely be using the well-maintained pit toilets (with no sinks) near your campsite. Speaking of showers, I had probably the most uncomfortably hot shower of my life here (just shy of scalding), but I suppose this is the Army Corps of Engineers way to assure guests don’t linger too long while washing up! :) Even so, having access to shower facilities was appreciated. There are potable water spigots located throughout the park. We were in the tent camping area, and there is a water pump and unisex pit toilet conveniently located nearby. All tent campsites included a picnic table, fire pit, and lantern pole. My young kids enjoyed the playground equipment on site. My only complaints (besides the trains) were that the fish weren’t biting, and there weren’t any notable hiking trails near the park. (I did see another fisherman land one small fish during our 2 day stay while casting from shore). That said, I would return again to Grant River.

We were skeptical that the rec area was going to be ready for memorial day weekend due to the severe flooding with the Mississippi River.
The grounds were completely clean and ready for campers! They were flooded still 3 weeks prior. The Army core of Engineers and the park staff did an incredible job.
This is one of the many reasons why Grant River Rec has been and will always be one of our favorite camping spots.

It was exactly what I was looking for. Stayed two days longer than anticipated. Will return. Super peaceful.
