What Guests Are Saying
Hunter Peak is a tranquil and beautiful campground by the Clark’s Fork River, making it an excellent base for exploring trails near Cooke City and Yellowstone National Park. While the narrow roads can make backing into sites challenging, the surroundings are serene and well-maintained. Campers appreciate the non-invasive hosts and the stunning natural beauty of the area.

When we entered the West Yellowstone entrance to that National Park nobody knew the name of the campground, it seemed too far for us to drive, and we easily found sites inside Yellowstone National Park. My experience there and earlier at the Grand Canyon National Park has led me to believe signing up for a campsite on your website before we go to a campgrounds is a waste of time.
Google searches never revealed where this site was located. Something was very wrong.

Amazing campground. Easy access to Beartooth Highway and Chief Joseph. Camp host was fantastic and offered a number of "tips and tricks" for enjoying the area!

Wow! So Many Mosquitoes! Not sure if it was because of the 2022 flood they had there a month earlier or if that is just the way it is. However, one of the cleanest campgrounds I’ve stayed at , all because the host cares and seems to take pride in it. The host, Dennis, was kind and welcoming. He suggested a few hikes for my sister and I to explore, one of which was a beautiful hike to some falls.
The campground was smaller than expected and the campsites were too close for my liking, however they were all filled when we stayed.

We were only there for one night, but want to return to this beautiful, quiet area. The flood had closed some sites, but luckily, not ours. The camp host greeted us and told us about the flooding and some places to go. Super clean pit toilet. They have the bear food storage boxes I like that are up higher on longer legs with the door opening downward so you have a platform to maneuver your items easier. And I loved falling asleep to the sound of the river.

Great, small campground. Camp host was great. Helped us understand what our limitations were due to the flooding. Hiking trail literally across the street
