About Gros Ventre Campground

Gros Ventre (pronounced ‘grow-vont’), means “big belly” in French, and the Gros Ventre Campground—surrounded by cottonwood trees and featuring stunning views of Blacktail Butte and the Teton Mountains—is truly magnificent! The campground’s location next to the Gros Ventre River offers some of the best opportunities in the park for wildlife sightings, as bison, moose, mule deer and a wide variety of birds are known to frequent the area. For avid anglers, the Gros Ventre River offers plentiful cutthroat trout, brook trout, and whitefish. While none of Gros Ventre’s campsites are on the river, all are within walking distance.The campground offers camping for tents and dry camping for RVs. Campsites include 279 individual campsites, 4 large group sites, and 39 electric-only sites, 10 of which are ADA-accessible. The campground is open from late-April to early-October.

Jenny Lake CG inside Grand Teton NP is way too small and tight for most campers. But Gros Ventre CG is flat and open. Lots of room for everyone. Many Loops. You'll like it here. Great reservation system. Very little restrictions other than the ordinary ones. Flush toilets. Located 1/2 way between the Moose Entrance to GTNP and the town of Jackson.

We were in site 78A for 2 weeks. Overall, our experience was good. The only negative experience is that the site to our north, had their tent site practically behind our site. This mean that when we had our tent up, our tent and the neighbors tent to the north, where right next to each other. We did complain to the park managers, and they simply told us that the site to the north was not designed very well, and there was nothing that they could do about it. Honestly, the Park Service needs to fix the site to the North of ours and make a tent pad there, so that their tent is not on our site. I would say though that the park manager that we worked with was super nice and tried to accommodate us the best they could.

Nothing really negative to say about this site. Not to far from Jackson, our site had decent shade as well. Cell service was spotty if thats an issue for you. Not much privacy, landscape is pretty flat and shruby. Flush toliets.

Everyone was very friendly! The campground is lovely, our site had great views of the Tetons. Bathrooms were taken care of, close to the park and other sights.

The maximum stay permitted at Gros Ventre Campground is 14 nights, and the maximum cumulative stay between all park campgrounds is 30 nights.

Guest check-in begins at noon. Check-out is 11 AM.

Generators are only permitted in loops A, B, C and along the East Corridor (EC).

We have one potable (drinking) water station and two rv dump stations across from the office cabin as you enter the campground.

Maximum guests allowed per site (not including group sites) is six. Tent sites allow for up to two tents and two vehicles. Not all sites are able to accomodate two tents. Guests will need to review site specific information for maximum number of tents permitted in individual sites. RV sites allow for one RV (tow included) only. (For reference, 2 motorcycles = 1 vehicle)

Quiet hours are 10pm - 8am. Generators cannot be used during these hours.

Water Hookup Fee: The Utility fee is imposed on all lodging and camping products to defer the higher cost of providing water and sewer in the remote locations in which we operate. The amount of this fee is determined by taking the difference in the cost of providing these services less the comparable cost of similar services in local areas. This fee is reviewed annually and approved by the National Park Service.
