Awesome campground and great experience! The only complaint is speed of traffic within the campground was far too fast and no enforcement of speed limits. Suggest signing upgrade and compliance enforcement.

The location of the campground is excellent for exploring the southern portion of the Park. Sites are roomy, but the space for parking your RV is minimal. Heed the length limits when you choose a site.

One of the largest campgrounds we’ve stayed at but very well mana gated, friendly staff, easy access to facilities.

Gros Ventre has been a favorite campground of ours for years. We live on the other side of Teton Pass. We are tent campers and have our favorite sites. I would give this campground 5 stars however, the fact that they still allow campfires is unconscionable. And they still sell firewood! With so many of our public, forest service, and Natl Park lands on fire here in the West, why would fires be allowed? By 7 pm, even on warm nights, the entire campground is filled with smoke. And you can see it settled in the valley near the Butte.
I urge you to change this policy. It is devastating for the air that we and all the park bison, moose, birds, and elk breathe. Fire smoke at this level from 300 plus campsites is toxic. And fires are the norm here, not the exception. It makes sitting outside on a beautiful evening(or sometimes morning too) so unpleasant.
Here’s an idea: have 3 or 4 large campfire areas that people can go and enjoy each night. Many other campgrounds do this and people do come. Try it for one season, please.

The hosts were very nice and seemed to be on top of things. However, our space #225 was on the perimeter road and most vehicles passing by our site were speeding well beyond the 15mph speed limit. Many people were walking that road and moose crossing the road. I think some speed bumps would be appropriate there to slow those people coming from the ground and tent sites down.
