Sugarloaf Campground in Medicine Bow National Park is INCREDIBLE! The campsites are spacious and provide picnic tables and fire pits. The scenic view around the campground is absolutely stunning. Although the campground only has pit latrines, they were clean and well maintained. An excellent spot for RV or car camping and close to sooo many great hikes.

We camped here at the end of August and had a great time! Not buggy at all. The camp host was attentive and the vault toilets were clean. We were able to hike Medicine Bow Peak and my husband spent some time fly fishing. It was very windy and rainy the last day of our stay (rained for 18 hours straight), so be prepared for changing weather and have good gear!

Spectacular scenery in this very quiet campground. Limited number of sites. First come first served sites are always taken and none were available during our stay.
Great hiking from the campground including to the top of Medicine Bow Peak. Multiple other great hiking trails, with excellent fishing nearby as well.
Fairly windy location as to be expected in Wyoming.
If you enjoy solitude on the hiking trails this is not the place for you, as every trail has at least moderate to heavy usage. But otherwise a great campground and location.

Busy campground, nice views. Forget trying to get into a FF site they are scooped up immediately. 100’s of cars drive the small circle daily. I prefer to go someplace else next time.

Gorgeous campground. Views for days. Overall very quiet (packed. but quiet). LOTS of bugs. Picaridin repellent and a shade tent saved our sanity.

Policies & Rules
Arrival & departure
- Check-in starts at 2:00 p.m.
- Check-out is at 1:00 p.m.
- Campsite is released if the reservation holder does not show up on the first day.
- Print your reservation and display it on your vehicle’s dash; it acts as a voucher for day use sites.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
Utilities
- No electric, water, or sewer hookups available.
Safety & rules
- Stay is limited to a maximum of 14 days.
- Quiet hours are observed from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
- Use caution when traveling from lower elevations; acclimatization may be necessary.
- Campsites must be occupied the first night; equipment cannot be left unoccupied for more than 24 hours.
Fires & fuel
- Campfires are only permitted in approved metal fire rings.
- Obtain firewood locally and burn it on-site to prevent spreading pests.

- Campsites can accommodate a maximum of 8 people and 2 vehicles.

- Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.
