Vedauwoo Campground (WY)

We chose this campground because it said there would be potable water. There was none.

There needs to be a campground host, not just a picnic area host. When we showed up at our reserved site 11, there was a loud party happening in the site at the end of the loop. Since much of the tent campground was empty, we decided to look for a different open campsite to be further away from the noise. We chose site 3 instead and hoped for the best. The loud party was not as loud from there but we could still hear them. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that even though it was well past normal quiet hours, eventually they would run out of beer or energy. At 1am, I decided it was time to call the sheriff's office if there was going to be any chance of getting some sleep. These people were shrieking and yelling back and forth to each other. The deputy drove through the campground, but of course, they were quiet then and as soon as the patrol car left, they went back to shrieking. When I called it in, I had thought they were at their campsite, but in listening to them more for the next 30-40 minutes, I believe they were actually running around, chasing each other on the trails. It made for a miserable night. I don't care if a group is still talking around a campfire after quiet hours, but these people would be quiet for a few minutes and then squeal and shriek and yell, which really echoed in the night. We camped there on a Sunday night, so one tends to think the weekend is over and you'll get a peaceful night of sleep, but that was not the case. Besides the screaming, they also set off a car alarm at 3:30am when one of them left the campground. Several more of them departed in the morning when we were packing up and they proceeded to drive through the campground going the wrong way on a one way path. The kids who drove past were teenagers so not sure who provided them with an unsupervised party spot, but hopefully, something can be done to prevent this kind of situation from happening again! It's too expensive to pay $28 for a night and not get any sleep.
