About Signal Mountain Campground

The Signal Mountain Campground is centrally located inside Grand Teton National Park (GTNP) and provides a convenient basecamp for accessing all the park has to offer. This 80-site campground is located adjacent to Signal Mountain Lodge which provides many amenities you might need for your National Park adventures. The campground sits on the southeast shore of Jackson Lake, and offers easy access to the lake waters and short walks to unparalleled views of the Teton Range. The area is frequented by various park wildlife, large and small, as well as a variety of bird species. The Signal Mountain Campground is normally one of the first campgrounds to open and last to close in the park, and can often have lingering snowpack during the opening weeks after heavy winters and possible early wintery weather at the end of the season. Due to the variability of weather in the Tetons, visitors should come prepared, especially during the months of May and October.

Incredible campground. Very private, and quiet. Right next to the water. there was an elk and a deer roaming the grounds which was cool. Clean bathrooms. Has running water to use, and a fire ring to use.

Beautiful campground. I like how rugged it felt yet the sites were pretty level for the RV. Water access was neat. Will hope to be back one day. It is tough to book and pricey though. Lady at check-in was not very helpful or knowledgeable, but otherwise a nice stay.

A gorgeous well maintained campground. The trail to the bathroom was one of my favorite parts of the day - a windy trail through the woods. Beautiful views from the beach area; water was swimming temperature. Boats can be a little annoying but we ended up renting one as well. A good selection of food with a bar, two restaurants and a coffee shop. The individual bathrooms were the nicest we have seen. $5 gets you 7mins of shower so we learned to be expedient. Hot water in the utility sink for dishes. Not too many sites and most are pretty private, great stargazing at night. We stayed in two spots: 20 and 30; we loved our #20 spot. #30 was too close to the neighboring site with not a lot of visible separation. Overall one of my two favorite camp grounds during our trip (Teton Canyons was amazing as well).

Great location next to the water, but be aware that most campsites are not next to or near the water. Not even a view. The site we grabbed was a lucky last minute opening and did have a water view. It was a great view, but the power at that site could not sustain 50 amps (40 amp draw) as promised. The most I was able to pull without tripping the breaker was about 20 amps. They blame their old power infrastructure... So keep that in mind if you need to power a larger RV. Aside from the power issue, also be prepared for paying for showers and expect high rates for the camp sites. While a well kept campground, the prices are ridiculous and it's because it's run by a private company. You'll get more of a private campground feel there and also expect a number of rules to follow that don't make sense. Like how you must wash dishes at your campsite... Why? There's heavy bear activity in this campground so they encourage you to increase the scents at the site?? Overall, I did enjoy my stay here, loved the views, loved having access to restaurants, stores, and even boat rentals, but it's just a bit expensive for a national park.

Signal mountain is a great spot, but they need to devote more time and funds to upkeep. The bathrooms need to be cleaned more often, and restocked with toilet paper during the day. For what the campground charges, this is a no brainer. They do have soap now which is a big improvement. Bear boxes and picnic tables were great!
