Nice small campground with only 10 sites. I was only able to reserve for one night but was able to find an open site available on the next day but had to move my camper. Bathrooms very clean. No host on site, no trash containers so we took our garbage with us.

This was not our first trip to this campground and it won’t be our last. We experienced some intense rain showers but it was no big deal. We love camping here. The host never introduced himself, which is ok. He kept the bathrooms clean and kept adequate firewood available for purchase.
I’m choosing not to give 5 stars because the reservation system at this campsite is ridiculous. While we camped, we were one of 3 parties who actually occupied our campsite. The remaining sites sat vacant for multiple days in a row. Dozens of other people driving through would have loved to occupy the sites, but they could not because they were reserved. I am strongly in favor of reserved sites becoming available as first come first serve after 24 hours of not showing up. It’s only fair.

Our stay was quiet and a clean campground. A lot of mosquitos -- so a head net was very helpful. Nice spot to paddle board, and fish. Many folks heading up into the wilderness from the parking lot provided nearby.

Overall a very cool small campground right on the lake. Bathrooms were very clean. Day users parking and going through campsite at times was annoying and I feel quite disrespectful. Watch out for the moose we saw two.

Site 5 is not acceptable for an RV the website to reserve sites does not tell you that. The site is a hill. Unable to properly level camper.

All the campsites are pretty good sized and semi-private, and the smell of the pine trees is wonderful.
I tried hard to pick a good campsite but number 9, the one I chose, was not really the best. I think I would’ve picked number two, as it has a path directly to the lake which is very pretty.
9 is right by the pit toilet, but there’s also a trail right through the campsite for everyone else to access it. Not ideal. Also, it’s on the side of the campground that is close to the road, but being a forest service road there wasn’t much noise.
That being said it’s a great little campground. The toilet was clean and it was very happy to be able to sit on the rocks at the lake.

It was very cold rainy and drizzly when we were there. It looked like a beautiful place but we didn't end up spending the night. There was no way for us to cancel our reservations. There was no camp host. There was no place to buy wood.

Site 9 has been moved - close to the latrine. It’s a sub-standard site. I recommend that you do not stay there in its current configuration.

From Worland, Wyoming, take U.S. Highway 16 east 49 miles. Take West Tensleep Road (Forest Road 27) seven miles to campground.
West Tensleep Lake Campground is accessed via U.S. Highway 16, which is approximately 49 miles from Worland, Wyoming.
Elevation: 2773 feet
25 mi drive to downtown Ten Sleep (about 47 min)
Policies & Rules
General
- The administering organization reserves the right to substitute sites without prior notice
- Site 9 is a tent-only site with an 18' narrow pull-through parking spur
- Limited space allows for no more than 1-2 (8x10') tents per site
- Larger RVs and trailers cannot be accommodated; Boulder Park Campground is recommended for larger units
- Groups larger than 20 people must camp elsewhere: Willow Park, Hettinger, Ranger Creek Recreation Area or Pine Island offer group camping
- Two non-towed vehicles allowed per site. The first vehicle is included in the basic fee; the second vehicle will be charged an extra $9.00 fee at the campground
- Firewood may be purchased from the campground host.

- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing organisms by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
- Refunds: Refund requests made through www.recreation.gov will be charged a $10 processing fee. This fee is retained by the reservation service contractor along with the non-refundable reservation fee. All requests for the return of the non-refundable reservation fee and the cancellation fee will be declined by the campground concessionaire as they did not receive these fees (these are the fees retained by the reservation contractor, a different entity).
