Very beautiful campground by a stream and surrounded by beautiful untouched landscape. This is a more remote campground but there were still enough people camping there to make us feel safe at night in a tent (at first I was a bit scared of getting a visit from bears lol)

Slough Creek is not for everybody, but it's just perfect for the one's who it is for. Located just outside the Lamar Valley, this campground is the closest for animal watching and world class fly fishing. The campground is 2.5 miles off the main road down a gravel road. Early in the season, the wolves den with their pups in the hills to the west. They can be seen often in the early morning and late evening. While staying here, we saw otters in the creek (bigger than I expected), lots of wolves, lots of bears, and lots of buffalo. The campground is located at the confluence of Slough Creek and Buffalo Fork Creek. The fishing is excellent all up and down this creek. The campground is basic, but with the creek and animals, it can't be beat. There are only 16 sites, with three pit toilets and 2 hand water pumps. The pit toilets are immaculate. There are multiple sites that will take larger RVs, but no power and no generators allowed. Solar highly recommended. The camp hosts are great. They can and will answer most of your questions. Bears do frequent the area around the campground, so bear safety precautions (no food, utensils, grills, ice chests left out) are a must. This is one of the only campgrounds with good cell coverage. Verizon works best, but AT&T also works. We visited here in the summer and will definitely come again.

We stayed at Slough Creek campground for one night during our trip to Yellowstone. The camp host was welcoming and knowledgeable about local wildlife. Unfortunately we didn't see any animals (except for prairie dogs) at the campground but we did see wolves, pronghorn, mountain goats, buffalo, and a bear farther down the road in Lamar Valley. Site #8 had a few trees that provided afternoon shade and a good spot to pitch our tent. The campground had vault toilets that were the cleanest we saw anywhere. The water pump was very close to our site (an initial concern because of its proximity but it didn't end up being a problem because of low traffic). The campground was incredibly quiet and peaceful. We definitely hope to stay here again next time we visit Yellowstone.
