What Guests Are Saying
Mammoth Campground is praised for its beautiful scenery, convenient location near Lamar Valley, and friendly hosts who maintain a clean environment. Many campers enjoyed the spacious and accessible sites, as well as the wildlife sightings, particularly elk and bison. However, some visitors noted that only one bathroom was open during their stay, leading to inconvenience, and there were occasional issues with campsite reservations. Overall, it's considered a great spot for exploring Yellowstone, especially in the off-season.

Really nice campground. Convenient location to Lamar Valley. No hook-ups, but we knew that in advance. Our site #65 was level and easy to access with our truck camper. Lots of pull through sites in the campground, which is great.

Thankfully not crowded, full conditions of winter weather. Stayed in camp a couple if days. Hosts were very nice, consciencious individuals. I camp at Mammoth frequently.

So Beautiful! We loved the campground! And the Hosts were friendly and keep everything up! The Grand Canyon and the Falls are a must! Mammoth Springs too! We drove every road that was open and loved every minute of it!

There was only 1 bathroom open near the entrance (hosts) in the entire campground and no warning on rec.gov. The rest of the bathrooms open May 1.

This is only the 2nd time my partner & I have stayed at a NP campground in our 3 years of vanlifing; here and Yosemite.
It was a great last minute decision as we were driving through off season, and I’m so glad we did! There was a lot of wildlife to see in Lamar Valley. And the roads to the geysers had just opened up; so we visited some of the iconic sites with the 1 full day we had.
As for the campground, it was a safe place to sleep & saved us the decline into town! We didn’t use any amenities so I can’t speak to that.

Beautiful campground surrounded by sagebrushes and often visited by elks and bisons. The vast majority of sites are small loop sites, not particularly leveled.

One of the main issues for almost everybody was that we had to find out the hard way that almost every restroom was closed. This was very, very unexpected by a lot of people. Also, there should be more checking in the campground area by those responsible one night an individual had his truck running with every light on and his spotlight on for over an hour and 10 minutes from eight at night till almost 930 and nobody said a word to him very very rude. Needs to be a little bit more monitoring of the park campground other than that everything was excellent.

Very easy to check in online. Smooth sailing all the way around. Yellowstone amazing in the Spring, even when cloudy and wet.

Campground itself is great, the bathrooms were all locked except the ones by the front registration office its .48 mile one way from the back of the Campground to the restroom one way.
