it was very organized, and the site was easily the most comfortable for tenting than any other campground we had on our trip up to Banff and back to Utah. I also really appreciated the trash had recycling options. Good all around experience.

What a beautiful campground! We stayed Monday-Friday and had a great time using the campsite as a base camp while we visited the sights at Yellowstone. Our particular campsite had a fire pit that was raised off the ground 2-3 feet which made trying to cook on the grill difficult with the base of the fire so far below the grill. We had a Dutch oven and some charcoal and were able to cook what we needed inside the pit and other foods on our propane grill. The mosquitoes were a bit annoying but sometimes that’s the case camping. Over all our stay was great. The site has a good mix of open areas and shade. Only real complaint is the site was listed as having space for 3 vehicles and we could hardly get two in the parking space, we had to park in a T configuration because they would not fit side by side. (A small 7ft wide trailer and a ford expedition). There are no showers and the campground only has vault toilets and some water spigots at various sites. This was not a bother for us but depending on how you like to camp the vault toilets can some times be a little nasty in the heat of the day. The park staff was wonderful, they do seem to make rounds often keeping an eye on the campground. You will also not find any cell service with at least AT&T. This was great not having the kids nag for phones or screen time and really focused on playing other ways and enjoying the outdoors. The lack of service was only cumbersome when trying to look up park information to plan out the next day. I recommend you have your itinerary ready before hand or plan on driving 20-30 minutes (one way) to mammoth springs area to use the visitor WiFi to get internet access. Just book a site already, plan ahead, and go make some memories!

These are the type of campgrounds I love because it feels remote and is relatively small. The site was nice and private for a campground. Vault toilets are clean. There was a hiking trail we explored two different times (saw almost no one) and was accessible from our campsite. Everyday we saw elk at the campground entrance road near the river. The location is perfect for accessing all the great places in north Yellowstone. (I personally feel you should camp in south Yellowstone AND north Yellowstone to cut down driving and get the most out of your visit). Out of the three campgrounds I have stayed in at Yellowstone, this is my favorite and I highly recommend!

Our site was great! Lots of shade. The ranger and camp hosts were kind and helpful. The toilet was clean but the smell was next level nasty but it was a vault toilet so it is expected.
It was only 9 miles from Mammoth and a great Basecamp for exploring the northern loop. Get up before dawn and pick from a number of spots both north and south to watch for wildlife as the sun rises.
100% would recommend!!

Arrival & departure
- Contact the campground at 307-344-2289 for late arrivals or cancellations.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.

Vehicles & parking
- Delivery or pick-up of RVs or camper units from outside the park is not allowed.
- All vehicles must be parked on pads or roads to avoid blocking traffic.
Safety & rules
- Maximum of six people per site; camping limited to 14 days in summer, 30 days rest of year.
- Quiet hours enforced; no loud noises or generators allowed.
- Travel in thermal areas must be on designated trails and boardwalks.
Wildlife & food storage
- Store food and trash securely to prevent wildlife interactions; no washing at hydrants.
Fires & fuel
- Campfires allowed only in designated grates; must be attended and properly extinguished.
