What Guests Are Saying
Ptarmigan Creek Campground is a well-managed and picturesque site, offering clean facilities and a quiet atmosphere, making it ideal for families and nature lovers. Many campers appreciated the spacious, private campsites and the beautiful nearby hiking trails. However, access to the river can be challenging for some, and there were complaints about the condition of the outhouse. Overall, it's a highly recommended spot for a memorable camping experience.

Absolutely awesome campground. Clean, dual restrooms (connected) which was hilarious as my friend and I got to always go together! It really was a beautiful, well managed campground. I highly recommend to others. A family experience I will not forget

The campground as well as the host were very good. The only thing that we found disappointing was that on the Recreation.gov website failed to mention that it is extremely difficult to access the river if you are older than 21.
It touts the wonderful fishing, which is why we went there, but difficulty in accessing the river was never mentioned. We ended up leaving a day early. Very disaapointing.

This was a great campsite! Pretty private and well maintained. We could hear the highway at night but it didn’t really bother us (and we were more toward the front). The creek on the campground offered a great morning coffee spot that we took full advantage of. We would definitely come back!

We are Longtime Alaskans. The outhouse at Ptarmigan Creek CG was BRUTAL. Without question it was, constantly, the worst smelling outhouse we have ever used in AK. It appeared to be VERY Full and well overdue a pump out.
