What Guests Are Saying
Ptarmigan Creek Campground is a well-managed and picturesque site, offering clean facilities and a quiet atmosphere, making it ideal for families and nature lovers. Many campers appreciated the spacious, private campsites and the beautiful nearby hiking trails. However, access to the river can be challenging for some, and there were complaints about the condition of the outhouse. Overall, it's a highly recommended spot for a memorable camping experience.

Great little campground down near Seward. Very small spots, not suitable for larger campers/RV's. Very poor cell reception there. If you wanting to get away, this is the place.

Someone else was in the spot we reserved and would not leave. No campground host present to help with the situation. Thus, we ended up having to go and find another place to stay for the night at the last minute.

Great trail to Ptarmigan Lake!!! Recommend you increase sized for camper spaces! Also, recommend thinning out the trees around camping spaces to increase sunlight. It would be great to have a dump station as their are none around the area.

This is a very small, basic campground off of the major road to Seward. The sites are back from the road and heavily wooded so traffic noise was not an issue. Bring a bug shelter - it's Alaska! We were swarmed at times by mosquitoes and black flies but other times it was fine. Sites were very private for a public campground in this area and we could not see our neighbors on either side. There is a compost toilet but no running water or showers. There are public showers in Seward and very nice showers were available at the new (2019) KOA nearby. If you are looking for a quiet, wooded, basic campground at a very reasonable price, this is your place! If you want to be in downtown Seward or at a campground with lots of people or activities, this is not for you. If we return to the area, we will stay here again.
