What Guests Are Saying
Quartz Creek Campground is highly praised for its beautiful location, cleanliness, and well-maintained facilities. Many reviewers appreciate the spacious sites, friendly camp hosts, and access to Kenai Lake and nearby activities. However, there are concerns about the reservation system being too restrictive, making it difficult for locals to secure last-minute spots, as many reserved sites often remain empty.

Our original site #45 was a disaster. The forest service put a gate at exactly the wrong spot to prevent us to maneuver our RV into the campsite. We have a large class A. Smaller Class C RVs and small trailers would not have created the problem.
The problem was compounded by the fact that every site in the entire campground was reservable and reserved.
The camp host however saved the day. Even though the gate was in the wrong location and we didn't get to stay in site 45. Without the on-the-ball camp host who overcame the problem created by inept planning on the part of the forest service, the rating would have been a 1 rather than a 5.

Great place to camp! Quiet, clean, neat and well organized. I wish all national forest campgrounds were like this one!

After 4 years of on-and-off van life around the US from CA to FL to Mexico to Canada and now Alaska, Quartz Creek is one of our favorite campgrounds which a local recommended. Sites are spacious and spread out for privacy.
Views of woods, mountains and Kenai Lake, depending on campsite.
Walking distance to Sunrise Inn & Motel for yummy meals, Cooper Landing Brewery and a bar with pool and darts for late night.
The only annoying part was pet owners that just let their dogs bark away which echoed across lake, spoiling the serene vibe for others.
Camphost Manager Jerry was extremely welcoming, friendly and personable which was a great first impression as we checked in.
It was hard to leave. Might have to return one day if our travels bring us by again.
FYI...since this a National Campground, Access Pass holders get 50% off for each night!

This is one of our favorite campgrounds. They have just gone in and cleaned out dead trees and brush so it feels a bit less than lush, but things will come back. We love the access to the creek and the lake. The bathrooms were clean. We did not encounter any late-night revelers which has happened to us from Millers Landing, to Matanuska River Park, to Denali's Tetlanika (Yes! Winderness campground when a group of 5 families descended and whooped all night).

Host is friendly and helpful, flush toilets are clean (only improvement would be soap at the sinks) and the campground is well maintained.
