What Guests Are Saying

Alamo Canyon Primitive Campground offers a well-maintained, beautiful, and peaceful camping experience, with only four sites ensuring solitude and stunning scenery. Campers appreciate the clean facilities, nearby hiking trails, and the chance to see numerous stars at night. While some noise from fighter jets and other campers can be disruptive, the overall atmosphere is cherished for its remoteness and natural beauty.

It was barely tolerable. It was way too quiet and serene. There weren't even any generators singing. The rangers came and did maintenance on the tables and probably closed the lid in the toilet! The sunset made the mountains look so aggressive. At night we had to use headlamps because there were no lights. Luckily it started to cloud up because there were way too many stars. The trail up the rugged canyon had rocks on it! We had to pack water and there was no service so we had to look at the scenery and talk to each other.` You couldn't even hear the highway- that's distressing. Be sure to go on the Ajo Loop so you can be in your car. The hikes off it just take you into more stark canyons. Don't reserve this campsite... so I can.

Beautiful and peaceful. Heard owls at the night. Lucky to see one too. Also a clean pit toilet. Nice trail for a little hike from campground.

Mesmerizing beautiful day and night. Loved the small footprint in the desert landscape and the quiet that having just four sites provided. Hiking was interesting, fellow campers were quiet and unobtrusive, the bathroom was appreciated, don't bother with a cell phone just soak it all in. I have never seen a more stunning sunset and night sky.
