It was a fine campground and we liked our tent site. However, it was early spring, the wind was blowing and the smell from the wastewater (collection site and open pool) was tough to bear. It smelled more like septic to me, but the ranger assured us it was just the grey water and the direction of the wind. It did finally pass, but we needed to be away from our campsite most of the day. There was plenty to keep us busy with hiking and driving around the park, so we certainly made do. If you are particularly sensitive to smells, make the sure the prevailing winds are in the right direction. Our site was along the very back of the campground, near the pumping station for grey water. That may not have helped. Just a caution; definitely should not deter you from checking out the area!

Retired NPS and have visited a significant number of NPS campgrounds. This was by far the best run, and cleanest we’ve experienced! The free solar hot showers were much appreciated. Your volunteer campground hosts were exceptional: well trained, and very professional. The facilities, campgrounds, visitors center and restrooms all reflect a great job by maintenance staff. Well done! We appreciate uou all!

This is one of the cleanest, nicest campgrounds we have stayed out. It's right on the border with Mexico. The campground was laid out very well. You were next to people but far enough away and lightly forward of your neighbor. Every night there was a Ranger talk which was very good. Directly from the campsite there are a few hikes, or bike rides.

Beautiful, well maintained campground. Sites are level and easy to pull in & out of. Tables & cooking grill stands available. Sites are really close together. Generator hours are somewhat confusing and no print material was provided to help keep it straight. Showers are solar heated, so timing is important to avoid water that is too cold or too hot. Cell signals iffy, depending on your carrier.
