About Mather Campground

Due to high demand, Mather Campground recommends reservations during peak season: March 1- November 30. You may book reservations up to 6 months in advance. Mather Campground is on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. Grand Canyon is one of the most inspiring landscapes on Earth and draws over five million visitors per year to its spectacular scenery. Mather Campground is large and can accommodate a variety of needs and comfort levels. It is the only campground within Grand Canyon Village. Scenic overlooks, the park's free shuttle bus system, the Visitor Center, the general store and hiking and biking trails are all within a few miles of the campground.. The campground is at an elevation of approximately 7 ft. (2134 m). Summers are sunny with high temperatures generally in the 80s. Thunderstorms frequently occur in July, August, and early September. Fall and spring are mostly sunny and cool with occasional snow. Visitors should come prepared for changes in weather.

Lovely campground with amazing access to GC. Facilities are clean. This specific spot is quite close to other campers, I used earplugs to get to sleep because I could hear other conversations, but I wanted to get to bed early. Easy access to water spigot. Not too close to restroom, which is nice to keep away from extra foot traffic.

This is a really great site for tents!! The campground is so lovely, they do such a great job with upkeep and the facilities are clean. There is a store at the entrance of the campground with firewood and showers, although I did not use these. This particular site I believe is tent only and is in the middle between two RV sites, but we did not have any problem with generator noise, our neighbors were really quite lovely!! you do get some traffic noise from cars entering the park early in the morning, but this was really not an issue, it was far enough away. We had a different night at a site farther away from the main roads and it was actually noisier with other campers getting into and out of their vehicles early in the morning. This is really quite an excellent site and very spacious with lots of room in the back!!

You can’t go wrong in Grand Canyon; whether you drive and see the different highlights or hike the trails. The movie in the Visitors Center is a must to catch.
Campground is very comfortable, showers and laundry were helpful.

The campground is huge, but also clean and quiet. Bathrooms were perfectly adequate and also clean. The showers ate 10 of my quarters without turning on once, but were otherwise great. We had a great experience. Would absolutely stay there again.

Great campground close to everything!! Clean bathrooms with flush toilets and helpful staff upon check-in. There were also nice coin operated showers located right outside the campground
