Black Canyon Rim Campground (Apache-sitgreaves National Forest, AZ)

Spaced out sites, very kind host. Enjoyable experience!

Great campground. My son and I enjoy this campground often. It's always clean and no issues. This last time there was no camp host but everyone was very respectful.

The park is a hidden gem! Lots of privacy and so much cooler than in the valley. I'll definitely come again.

Rocks! Not the best site for the price for tents. The majority of sites are very sloped and rocky. Bring a shovel, rake, or bring a lot of padding or wood pallets. Just put everything back in it's place when you leave. Otherwise amazing night skies 😱. Some off-roaders can be rude and loud into the night but they got quiet well over an hour before curfew. We didn't have a full-time host but a ranger came and checked on us during the day and was very helpful and informative. You cannot/don't want to walk to the lake. It's about 3 mi farther into the woods on less maintained dirt roads and the water level was pretty low. Still, it was beautiful to see. I suggest visiting Willow Springs Lake if you want to kayak, or take your own boat, or fish. Woods Canyon Lake is farther but you can rent all sizes of boats there and it has a store. I do not suggest diving a low-profile car to the campground because it is a dirt graded road and can have big dips from flooding, but it can be done if you are careful and drive slow. Oh and yes, there are wild horses! But not 100% chance they'll walk into camp while you're there or awake. And there is only one bathroom on site that can be far away or stink if it hasn't been emptied in awhile so choose your site accordingly. Would I go back? Yes! Now that I know what to bring/expect.

The care giver was very helpful and friendly. Campsites were nice it was a bit rocky but we just moved things around. The bathrooms were clean and it was nice having water by the entrance to wash dishes.The best part were the wild horses that waltzed through the campsite first thing in the morning.

This place is a gem! Note that it’s a skinny dirt road so getting a trailer in is a little tight. Cellphone service is spotty like others have mentioned. Wild horses and deer came up to the campsites.

This is a good, small campground. The sites were nice and the outhouse was always clean (only one for the campground though). We had a nice time and would not hesitate to go back. Lastly, cell service is very poor and unreliable - be aware.

Host was very helpful, we loved the small campground. We were the only trailer that weekend but the site was great and lots of room. Saw some horses.

Manny was excellent! The sites were very clean and beautiful. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because the noise from ATVs was very loud. Also there was only 1 bathroom for the whole campground. Otherwise a great experience!
