The care giver was very helpful and friendly. Campsites were nice it was a bit rocky but we just moved things around. The bathrooms were clean and it was nice having water by the entrance to wash dishes.The best part were the wild horses that waltzed through the campsite first thing in the morning.

This place is a gem! Note that it’s a skinny dirt road so getting a trailer in is a little tight. Cellphone service is spotty like others have mentioned. Wild horses and deer came up to the campsites.

This is a good, small campground. The sites were nice and the outhouse was always clean (only one for the campground though). We had a nice time and would not hesitate to go back. Lastly, cell service is very poor and unreliable - be aware.

Host was very helpful, we loved the small campground. We were the only trailer that weekend but the site was great and lots of room. Saw some horses.

Manny was excellent! The sites were very clean and beautiful. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because the noise from ATVs was very loud. Also there was only 1 bathroom for the whole campground. Otherwise a great experience!

Our spot was perfect, shade, close to the very clean bathrooms, a little to close to the road but it was ok. Lots of wild horses, fresh air and relaxation. Black canyon rim lake was terribly low in water but Willow springs lake was beautiful! Perfect for paddle boarding and chilling on the beach.

The campground was pretty quiet and clean. The camp host, Manny, was really friendly and helpful. When we walked over and told him we wanted firewood, he offered to drive it over to our site so we wouldn't have to carry it. So helpful and generous.

Great site! People around were friendly, the staff member on site was SO nice and kept everything very clean. He obviously cares very much about the site and does a great job making sure you are taken care of and feel safe! Would recommend over and over and will definitely be back!!!

Nice quiet camp site. Very clean bathrooms (vault toilets). The nearby Black Canyon Lake is very dry and not great for fishing but we saw dozens of wild horses. We had good luck fishing at nearby Willow Springs Lake

It is a nice campground with the sites not too close. It was a little different because of the campfire restrictions but still beautiful stars at night. There is apparently only one toilet station in the entire campground so it was a little busy at times but the toilets were very clean. Black Canyon Lake was a few miles away so we went there and found the lake to be quite dried up but there were quite a few feral horses around there so it was a good experience to see them. Some of the sites were near the forest gravel roads and some dust was stirred up from all of the ATV's running down the roads. The trail to the gravesites is on the road on the west side of the campground, not the road to Black Canyon Lake, and a little further down by the end of the campsites. If you go down the Black Canyon road the graves are more difficult to find.

Located 13 miles west of Heber, Arizona.
From Forest Lakes, travel east on Highway 260 for approximately 1 mile. Turn south on Rim Road and travel approximately 2.4 miles. The campground is located at the intersection of Rim Road and Black Canyon Road.
Black Canyon Rim Campground is accessible via Highway 260, which is approximately 1 mile from the campground. Rim Road connects from Highway 260 to the campground.
Elevation: 2323 feet
19 mi drive to downtown Overgaard (about 25 min)
Policies & Rules
General
- One (1) vehicle is included with each campsite reservation. RVs and their tow vehicles, as well as vehicles towing camper trailers, are considered one vehicle when they arrive as a single unit. Vehicles beyond that would be subject to the additional vehicle fee ($12.00/night) collected at the campground upon arrival.
- Don't Move Firewood: Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood near your destination and burning it on-site. For more information visit dontmovefirewood.org.
- If this campground is full, several other facilities are in the area.
- This is a high elevation facility; please use caution when traveling from lower elevations.
- Well behaved dogs on leashes or leads are welcome. Dogs must be attended at all times - do not leave unattended dogs in campsites. Visitors who bring aggressive or nuisance dogs may be asked to leave - no refund will be given.
- Only quiet generators are permitted in campground.
