What Guests Are Saying
Black Canyon Rim Campground offers a beautiful and spacious setting that creates a dispersed camping feel, with well-maintained sites, clean bathrooms, and friendly hosts. Many campers praised the ample tree cover, potable water access, and the overall cleanliness of the campground. While the road to the site could use improvement and some noise from nearby off-road vehicles was noted, the positive atmosphere and helpful camp hosts make it a highly recommended destination for future visits.

We rented sites 2,3,4 for our family. Great location, good services and monitoring by the Park Ranger. And, the lake is nearby.
However, our sites are close to forest road 300 and the hunters driving by in their four wheel off road vehicles made a lot of noise at night and early morning. Many speeding trucks are also on that road. There should be a speed limit.

We had camped previously with a different set of friends outside this campground at free sites nearby off the same forestry road, as those friends had big campers. First time using campground, as we only have a tent; with different friends who have tiny trailer(no bathroom). We had the whole campground to ourselves, so could choose any site once we got there even after reserving a specific site. The host did not seem to be there the 2 days we were. Some sites better than others & it wasn’t busy on forestry road like some other times we have bern there. If busy, better to use lake access side, or campground loop sites if you want quiet. But the majority of sites for bigger groups(we were 4 adults & 1 toddler) or campers are close to main forestry road. Recommend reserving online. Toilets were pit, but Clean, Brightly lit, and not stinky inside with plenty of paper. Trail to them could be hazardous at night, even with a light(better to access by road). Nice to have fire ring with grill grate provided, if not during fire restrictions. Bring good fire starter, as could still be quite damp from rain/previous fire drowning! Small amount of firewood at campground; but not sure if “free”, or for sale; as Host wasn’t there to ask. Thankfully, whoever used our site last left some that lasted us until the end of our 2 days. Well worth the money. Check the weather in Heber before you go, to know what to plan for. Sites on loop could be bad if raining.

We loved the rains and we got to see wild horses, deer, squirrels, and heard and saw so many birds. Didn’t catch a fish though:(

Our time at the camp ground was great. The camp hosts (Manny & Terry) were the best. We mostly had whole campground to ourselves. The restroom was clean and we plan on coming back next year.

Water was a little far away but no issues with stinging insects. Very quiet but pretty far away from the lake. If going to the lake bring an SUV. Road is rough.

We reserved camp space #3. When we showed up we discovered the camp host had given our space to someone else that had complained about the spot they had reserved. That left us with their original subpar spot. Tried to be a good camper and make due but just left a bad taste. Thanks for asking.

Overall the site is good. The restrooms are very clean like the other reviews here and on Google mentioned. They also mentioned the camp hosts were great and that was also true. Our actual site was right on the Rim Rd (FR300) so ATVs and the like were constantly going by and kicking up dust into our site. The ground was also uneven and rocky in this particular spot. So I wouldn't recommend site #5.
