We reserved space 18 which wasn't even a spot anymore because it had large metal pylons in front of it and there was no one to talk to about it.

People are being allowed to live in some campsites for months at a time… Normally it wouldn’t matter to me, but those sites should be rotated every couple of weeks, so weary travelers can stay there. If people are going to reside there, then remove the sites from the campground at recreation.gov 🙄

I arrived after sunset on a rainy night, but I was easily able to find my campsite and get everything setup. There was a momma javelina with her babies grazing nearby when I arrived, which was a pleasant surprise! It was already too wet for me to start a fire, but I was able to quickly pitch my tent and get cozy.
You definitely need a waterproof or 3-season tent to be out here during this time of year, but there was something very calming about listening to the rain hit the tent all night.
The volunteers are very friendly and helpful, and it was very nice to chat with them the next morning! I forgot the volunteer's name, but he was very kind and gave me a few protips about the campground and surrounding areas.
Overall, it was a wonderful and well-needed trip. :)
