We went on the Verde Canyon Railroad in Cottonwood and swam in Oak Creek during our stay. We had a blast!

The campground was well maintained with plenty of staff and trash cans. The hosts recommendation to visit the swimming hole by the creek on the backside of the F site loop was a great way to end the day after having visited Slide Rock park earlier in the day.

My wife and I have never disliked a campground and our site more. Our site was E10 and we chose it online because it was along the exterior and off the beaten path. Wow, were we disappointed. Most sites are paired and our camping “partners” were already there and set up.

They didn’t back up to the end of their parking pad (due to excessive slope) and use the table behind their parking (as was intended) but instead sat in chairs outside their camper door just a stone’s throw from our designated campsite table. In order to get some privacy for our main camper door we had to back our van into the site by jockeying backwards and forwards as our parking pad wasn’t intended for backing into. On our camper door side we ended up with a small sliver of sloped real estate adjacent to the main campground road in which to set up a couple of chairs.

The ultimate problem is with the parking pad locations, slope of the pads, and table locations. Campers should not be presented with such a dilemma. We feel sure after mulling on the situation that at some point in time Cave Springs Campground doubled their camp sites by adding a second pad and table to each individual site (even if it made no sense) in order to make more $$$ at the expense of client enjoyment. What a bummer 🤨🙁.

We ended up leaving a day earlier than our reservation as the need to jockey our way back in (after visiting trails and Sedona), lack of a table nearby to use adjacent to our door and the obnoxious giant speed bumps when entering and leaving (really, why??? Are folks speeding in and out regularly???).

Cave Spring is very well managed. The sites are pretty dusty..loose dry dirt most everywhere. Rest rooms are clean and water very available…that darn dust

The setting was so beautiful! The staff was helpful and answered all my questions. The campground is well maintained. Even though they were vault toilets, the bathrooms were clean and did not smell. The showers were also very clean. Be prepared for cold nights if you come in the spring. And the cell phone service is minimal. Other than that, I loved every minute of my stay at Cave Springs.

Very kind hosts. Bathrooms were the cleanest I've ever seen--didn't even stink despite being pit toilets!

Cave Springs Campground is a very pretty campground in Oak Creek Canyon and we enjoyed our time there. We camped in the F loop which was very close to Oak Creek. Overall we had a very pleasant stay.
Two things are worth mentioning, however. The traffic noise on 89A was fairly continual, even in the middle of the night. Where are people going at 3:30 AM? This traffic noise did not ruin our enjoyment of our camping too much but it was definitely part of our stay.
The second concern is more serious. The campsite website states that the campground is accessible for RV's up to 36 feet. This may be technically true, but we watched RV's less than 36 feet have great difficulty negotiating some of the turns and getting in and out of their campsite. We had planned on camping in our 32 foot travel trailer but fortunately checked out the campground the week prior and wisely chose to not bring our trailer there but tent camp instead. We think the 36 foot maximum limit for an RV is misleading.
Otherwise, beautiful campground and creek!
