This was a true cool spot in a desert heatwave. The elevation and the trees at most sites kept temperatures at a livable 90 degrees in the day and a restful 70 at night. The canyon rock formations were stunning, and can rival any western park — difference— not as crowded. Wildlife spotted on the ground— a wild turkey and one rabbit.

The campground was very beautiful. We enjoyed most of our stay there. However, there was a very rude campground host who, instead of coming to us in our camp to tell us to turn a lantern off, yelled at us from the roadway. She was not very nice and we were unnerved by her yelling. We turned off the lantern and when another guest and I walked down to the restrooms after this incident there were 4 other campsites with lanterns on. She never went to them and told them to turn their lanterns off.
The next night, a group of campers drove in very late and set up camp by one of the campsites we had reserved and were staying in (We reserved and used 3 campsites) who stayed up most of the night talking loudly and smoking marijuana. At no time did any of the camp hosts visit that site and tell those campers to be quiet.
I would like to see better communication skills on the part of the camp hosts/campground attendants. Also, if there are several campsites where rules are being broken, then they all should be addressed and not just one site.

Second time in campsite 1 - great experience and we like being at the end even though the sites aren’t that close to each other. Plenty of nice spots throughout and we love the dog-friendly hike from the campground to Bonita. Bathrooms always really clean. Entire campground, visitor center and park has a great vibe. Love the jeep road over the cave creek too!

I always enjoy my stays at Bonita Campground. The campsites are limited to 24 ft and there is no electric or sewer hook-ups, but there is water in some locations, but not at each camp site. Each camp site has a level area for tents and a picnic table. There is no cell service in the lower part of the park, but there is wifi at the visitor center, which is about a half mile from the campground.

Policies & Rules
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
