Iron Mountain

It was an amazing spot until the middle of the night ant invasion. I do hope the whole campground gets some TLC because it’s a great location and nicely laid out.

The ants were unbelievable! Everything was absolutely covered with ants when we came back the first evening from fishing. Ants had even infested the cabs of our trucks. Literally everywhere. We broke camp and left. I have never seen an infestation that bad before and hope never to again.

The whole cul desac of campsites was overrun with ants. I set my camper up and within 3 hrs ants were inside my camper. After 4 days of camping, ants were inside my boat and car.

Ants everywhere! If you plan on staying here have ant spray with you. I have to go to the local walmart to buy diatomaceous earth to sprinkle around my pinic table to keep ants away. Ants got in my boat, camper and even my car

The ants are terrible. We always take spray but it doesn’t seem to help. Our dogs could sit in one spot to long without getting covered in ants.

The park itself is nice enough. However, there were many reviews that talked about an ant problem. We scoffed when we read that. If you are reading this, be advised that it’s no joke. We left out a small package of salad dressing from a bagged salad. The ants started coming in almost immediately. The next morning we had millions of little sugar ants. I am not exaggerating! Thankfully the liquid Terro traps got rid of them. We only stayed the one night.

Besides the ant problem, the park needs a little TLC.

One of my favorite campgrounds. Yes, it’s not perfect. Some sites are more rugged and it’s rustic and yes there’s no water or sewer hookups but both are available at the campground just not at each individual site. For my family and I that’s such a small sacrifice to make for a place that is just pure peace and quiet. I come here to enjoy the outdoors and to relax. The showers are always clean, drain well and while they are older and not resort style they work and are very clean. Water pressure and temperature is perfect. Thank you COE for taking such good care of this place.

Park rangers were very nice, campsite was just what I needed, clean restroom and shower facilities. No water or sewer hookup at sites, but didn't require them for my camper.

Ants ants and more ants. If you plan to stay here make sure you bring something to spray around your trailer. Our camper was invaded overnight and completely covered inside everywhere so we ended up leaving after one night.

First time at Iron Mountain, we so enjoyed our stay! Wonderful sites, beautiful views of the lake! Definitely will return!
