What Guests Are Saying
Choctaw Recreation Area is a beautiful and well-maintained park with polite staff and spacious campsites, particularly in Section D, which offers great views of the lake. Many visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the park and its peaceful atmosphere, making it a favorite spot for family camping. However, there are concerns about the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the lack of water hookups at campsites, along with some trash overflow issues.

We didn't realize that there weren't any water connections at the camping areas. Roads were blocked off to closed areas. Made it very difficult to move around area. One road was blocked that made no sense. I could have easily exited area B without having to reverse my route to exit area. It made it difficult since the road at the marina was one way only. When we were leaving, the dump station was full and I could not empty our tanks on the RV. I had to pay to dump at another location, so I was out more expense. Other than that, it was a nice clean camp and we enjoyed our time there.

Camped at Choctaw (11/4/2023 - 3 nights - Loop D).
Camped at Site #7, which had a huge concrete pad for our 25’ RV and great lake view.
Minimal trees around this Site #7, which was nice.
In this area are many country road routes for motorcycle enthusiasts to enjoy.
A wonderful bakery, Serenity Farm Bakery in Leslie - about half hour from Choctaw.
They have a store as well as a separate bakery on Main St.
For lake activities at this time of year, the marina was closed for the season - so not able to rent anything.
But you could bring your own boat, kayak, paddleboard, etc. There is a huge boat ramp.

Nice campground but no water hookups. Enjoy the lake and being in the middle of nature.

We camped at Choctaw sight D4 in our 32-foot motor home overlooking the lake just about 100 yards away which is one of the best sights here. The view from this sight is beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it if you find it available!

Pretty nice park, however site C17 is very close the neighbors site. Also, the pad is narrow and no room to set up a campsite. Would be much nicer if it offered full hookup. Very reasonable at $24.
