What Guests Are Saying
Choctaw Recreation Area is a beautiful and well-maintained park with polite staff and spacious campsites, particularly in Section D, which offers great views of the lake. Many visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the park and its peaceful atmosphere, making it a favorite spot for family camping. However, there are concerns about the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the lack of water hookups at campsites, along with some trash overflow issues.

The lady at the front gate was absolutely amazing, as she always is. The park was nice and clean. We will make use of the pavilion again if the need arises.

Very nice clean park and the lake views are amazing, also the campsites are very large and private. You will be hard pressed to find a better place to camp.

Great campground. Clean bathroom and maintained area. The check-in/out process was a breeze and couldn't have asked for a better set of random folks to camp with. Friendly people love camping and this campground had plenty of them!

Campsite host/workers are exceptionally nice. Park is very well maintained and clean. Upgrades to electrical system (50amp on more sites) was a big help. Hopefully that will continue.
This is a very busy park and can get crowded during peak season. It could use improvements to the sewer dump station (make it double lane and easier to access if traveling from boat ramp direction).
Also be aware the vultures are a serious issue at this and other COE parks in the area. The COE should accept the birds are a nuisance and take aggressive steps to address the issue. They have caused several thousands of dollars of damage to multiple RV roofs and vehicles (they literally eat Rv roofing which can easily cost over $5,000 to repair)!!! Happened to a friend of mine twice!!

We enjoyed our stay at the campground. There were no attendants at the gate to check in or get info on the campground. Probably because we were pre-season. Not a big deal. Our site ws enjoyable and we had great views of the lake. We enjoyed walking thru the different loops.
