What Guests Are Saying
Choctaw Recreation Area is a beautiful and well-maintained park with polite staff and spacious campsites, particularly in Section D, which offers great views of the lake. Many visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the park and its peaceful atmosphere, making it a favorite spot for family camping. However, there are concerns about the cleanliness of the bathrooms and the lack of water hookups at campsites, along with some trash overflow issues.

We were at Choctaw off season. The park was empty for the most part and we enjoyed it very much. So many of the sites have unique amenities such as cement picnic tables and preparation tables. Sites close to the water had fenced patios. My wife and I spent spring break there. I would certainly be a regular if we were not 500 miles away.

We stayed Tuesday-Thursday. It rained the first two days, but we enjoyed the quiet, being we were the only ones camped in the whole park. We walked the parked and picked out our future sites when we return. The bathroom was very clean, and well stocked with toilet paper. Truly loved this little park.

The site I reserved did not fit our camper due to several pine trees near the asphalt pad. We were not able to use the slide out on one side and the other we had to center our door in between 2 trees.
Other than that, camp ground was pretty and restroom was clean.
