Choctaw offers a beautiful and well-maintained campground with clean facilities and friendly staff, making it a pleasant spot for camping. Many guests appreciate the spacious campsites and scenic views, particularly in D-Section, and highlight the attentive service from staff like Ms. Jeannie. However, some reviews mention issues with bathroom cleanliness and a lack of water hookups at the sites, which detracted from their overall experience.

Beautiful park, well maintained. Very polite gate attendant. Downside, burn ban was on and we could not build a campfire.

The trash dumpsters were completely overflowing by day three and stayed that way for almost a There’s no fish cleaning station and everyone was dumping their fish guts into the dumpster, which with the warm temperatures created an awful stench that you could smell throughout the entire park. I camped at several parks around the country that have fish cleaning stations that are not only convenient for the campers but it drastically reduces the smell around the park. It would also reduce the amount of buzzards that concrete in and around the dumpsters scattering trash everywhere. Other than those two issues the camp ground is great and we will be back.

We love to camp in D-Section & are very pleased with the campsites. In the past we have camped in other sections of the park. Unfortunately many of the campsites need upgrading because of unleveled & deteriorating parking pads. We also found poison oak & ivy growing wildly. We take our young grandchildren with us many trips which creates a lot of concern of them having a breakout.? Because of these issues we made the decision not to camp at Choctaw (my preferred place) if we couldn’t make our reservations in the D-Section.
A huge shout out to Ms Jeannie the park attendant for Choctaw. She is very attentive to our needs, always with a friendly smile. She makes our stay an even better one. We love Choctaw!
