About Choctaw

Choctaw Park is located on the spacious Greers Ferry Lake nestled in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. In the 19th century, a city named Higden flourished where the lake now rests. The city suffered from frequent flooding and as a result a man-made lake was created for flood control of the area. Today, the city's remains sit below the lake, enticing scuba divers and archeologists alike.

The gatekeeper is always friendly and very attentive to your needs. However, we were very disappointed that the grass was high. You would think during a holiday weekend it would’ve been maintained better. Also, the showers are always a nice addition and have loved them every time I go, but this time it was extremely hot, especially when the toilets were flushed, which was concerning for any children that may have been taken a shower. This was mentioned by several people within our group. We do have members coming in from out of state Labor Day weekend and would really love for them to have a wonderful experience.

Cars parking all along the side was ridiculous and caused issues getting our boat in and out of our site. At one point going down into the ditch to get out which cause damage to the trailer light. The grass was over grown coming up to mid calf of your leg.
