Beautiful state park! Our site was on the water and had a beautiful fire pit area. The rates are very reasonable. You do have to go online to register as they have no walk up sites.

I live in the local area and this is normally my husband and my favorite place to camp. My experience this time not so much. We stayed in loop A and the Restrooms had no electricity for lighting at night and there was NO hot water for a shower. I had to go to the other loops to use the showers. I know this might sound petty but the loop shouldn't be open if the facilities don't work properly. At Camp site 8A the Grill to cook on is rusted out so I had to use charcoal on one side only and didn't know how well it would hold up. Usually it is a great experience but I was a little disappointed this time and the volunteers weren't really able to help us on resolving any of it . All they could say was I am just a volunteer. I plan on camping again at Thompkins Bend I just hope the next time will be better for the price we pay. Sorry to complain.

I stayed the week of Feb 21, 2021 and had the park to myself. The camp host and volunteer were nice and hospitable. The site was clean, the electricity and water worked.
My biggest problem is the men's bathroom/showers were broken. Only one toilet functioned and none of the showers worked. Being a tent camper, this was a big deal to me.
I was also there in mid-December and the hot water in the mens shower went out while I was there. Maintenance of the facilities seems to be a problem. If you don't use the facilities, it is beautiful otherwise.
