The friendly and helpful staff, particularly the camp hosts, contribute to a welcoming atmosphere, making it a peaceful retreat for visitors. My wife and I returned here and rented Cabin "A" for two nights, 11 years after first finding and exploring this place. The cabins are clean and cozy, and serve as "living" monuments to the handcrafted works of the CCC that are nearing the century mark in age! Not sure why so many years went by before we returned?
The sunsets and sunrises are spectacular, and the dark skies at night make for awesome viewing of the planets and constellations...We also viewed an adult and a juvenile Bald Eagle with our binoculars yesterday afternoon from the back patio of our cabin!
Hiking trails are abundant, and a variety of trails ranging from easy to difficult are available nearby to accommodate most anyone with a desire to go rambling.
Amber is overseeing operations of this recreation area, and she is just the sweetest lady that is focused on making your stay a great experience. Her enthusiasm for the history of the C.C.C. and the amazing work they achieved is contagious. I can't imagine a better host for this place :)
