What Guests Are Saying
White Rock Mountain Recreation Area offers an incredible location with stunning views of the Boston mountains and well-maintained rustic cabins. The friendly and helpful staff, particularly the camp hosts, contribute to a welcoming atmosphere, making it a peaceful retreat for visitors. While access involves a challenging gravel road, the overall experience, including the clean facilities and beautiful hiking trails, makes it well worth the journey.

I was surprised at the cost of pet deposits it was 100.00 per dog for me 200.00 almost the cost of the cabin. There appears to a no refund policy. I know my dogs caused no damage. The cabin is on a steep down slope and the steps are unsafe for most people. They are far apart and steep. Once you finally get to the cabin things are some what better. Far the most part the cabin is as advertised, the living room furniture had seen better days. The pullout sofa, allowing for 4 persons, did not work it could not be pulled out. All the casual chairs appeared to be in disrepair and unsafe to sit on. I have been to White Rock in the past and always had a good experience. It seemed to be under new management. I will tell people about but will not recommend it.

The location is beautiful and tucked away nicely in the mountains. The cabins are exactly what you would think of as a rustic mountain cabin with few niceties like kitchen appliances, running water, and a nice bathroom. It’s the perfect getaway for a romantic weekend or vacation away from modern life, although cell service is available.
The only problems I had with my New Years vacation with my girlfriend was the cold and lack of heating capacity. I was in cabin C. The door to the back porch had a broken window repaired with tape, there was a 1/2-1” gap of free space under that door and most of the windows would not seal near completely. None of this would be a problem if the fireplace could put off enough heat. I grew up in Michigan and have had a wood burning stove my entire life to heat my house. This stove in cabin C even when I got the fire ripping and the damper closed down, which I don’t think was working properly, could barely heat us sitting on the floor 5 feet away from the fireplace. We ended up having to get the fire blazing with the stove full then using the tiny space heater to help keep the main room
Warm enough to hang out and have dinner.
All things considered and now knowing about the lack of heating capacity I still plan on making many more trips here and planning accordingly.

White Rock Mountain was FABULOUS! We parked about 10 miles away and hiked in on the Ozark Highlands Trail (which was nice, but mostly unspectacular in that section). But the view from the top of White Rock was incredible, and the sunset is possibly the most beautiful one I've ever seen! We camped in a tent, but we look forward to going back sometime with my wife's parents and staying in one of the cabins, which looked very nice.

I camped here in October 2019 and the only complaint I have is that I was too early for full color leaf peeping. The views are breathtaking, trails well maintained, the campsites were clean, the staff was wonderful and the water from the artesian well was some of the best I've drank. I was a little concerned about towing my small, teardrop size trailer up and down the 7 mile gravel road but it was a piece of cake. When I first arrived my cell service was spotty but after following the directions the staff gave me, turn phone off and on so that it connects to the closest tower, I had no more issues....... def going back.
