What Guests Are Saying

Lupine campground offers a beautiful, peaceful setting in the forest with stunning day and night skies, plus frequent wildlife sightings, including deer and various birds. Camp hosts are friendly and helpful, enhancing the overall experience. While some issues with noise from neighbors and bathroom cleanliness were noted, many campers still had a wonderful time and expressed a desire to return.

Campsite 093 was a little more secluded than the other sites, so it was relatively quieter and more private. It had wonderful morning light coming right into our campsite, but it did warm up quickly, I'm afraid. I'd recommend a canopy tent for shade in the morning and day if you're hanging out. The afternoon light though was great: perfect for naps.

The downside of this particular campground is that because you're a little more removed, you're farther from the car, which we used to put all of our food away at night, so you do have to trek some things back and forth. Other campers were not putting their food away though, sooo... It'd be great if SNF installed some bear lockers of some kind. Or at least pave in the section of the path that leads up to this particular campground site. There's definitely space on the side of the road where a car could be parked. You pave just the slightest space or build some kind of bear locker and this spot is awesome.

Be careful not to miss the ranger station when you head into Bass Lake. It's easy to miss. Bundles of firewood were available for $8 a bundle from the camp hosts, who were very polite. I think we used 3 over 2 nights. Try to bring exact change!

The nearby Willow Creek/Angel Falls trail is great! Would recommend. Just be careful and don't be that group of kids without masks, playing music from speakers, and then slipping on the rocks and into the pools (we were warned that people do drown in these pools). Bass Lake can be pretty busy but it was nice after a long hot hike. Have fun.

Everything was wonderful! Bathrooms were kept super clean, rangers are nice and our camping spot was perfect for us. We thought since this site was next to the bathrooms we would hear doors closing all night but not at all. Everyone staying in our loop was quiet and respectable. Our 3 year old was probably the loudest of everyone lol. Would definitely stay here again! Also, a Huge plus is it's next to the lake!

Site 96 has NO SHADE. The trees were recently cut down on that and 95 (i think). Also, they told us there is a bear that will come visit but bear boxes are not provided. Sure enough, the bear did visit us twice and got into our box that contained food (metal locked box). For some reason it did not want to visit the campsite next to us which actually left food out on the table. Bear is just rude I suppose. Anyway, this campsite has nice enough bathrooms (flush and clean) and is walking distance to the lake. Being at the lake you are going to get crowds of people that are drinking and loud all night so not sure why this is described by some as "quiet". Camp hosts were nice people. Site 94 was full of shade so get that one if you want shade, loud people and bears that break your stuff.

Location was great the only thing is you share the area with other campers but not a big deal.

Site 86. Stayed mid June. Site was clean. Some shade available during the day. This spot is big enough for 3 tents, 6 people. The fire pit is close to the neighbors– don't know if you'll like that.
You can't see the lake from here which was fine. 10-15 min walk to the lake (better to drive or bike for better locations).
Bathrooms were clean but no showers at this campground. No bear lockers. These bits of info should be posted part of the description
The camp hosts were friendly. We definitely enjoyed our stay.
