About Wishon Bass Lake

Wishon Campground is located across the street from Bass Lake. The camp is shady, due to dense stands of manzanita, oak, cedar and pine, and thick undergrowth provides ample privacy. Some sites at Wishon offer lake views.

What Guests Are Saying

Wishon Bass Lake campground offers a great location near the lake and amenities, making it a favorite for many families who return annually. Campers appreciate the clean restrooms and beautiful views, with some sites being spacious enough for larger groups. However, issues such as rude camp hosts, noise disturbances, unlevel campsites, and lack of bear boxes have been noted, impacting the overall experience for some visitors.

Beware that these lake view spots CANT accommodate small trailers. Ended up damaging my trailer and truck trying to get into these spots. Left us stranded 9 hrs from home with no camping spot available on the busy weekend. Had to call around daily and try to get last minute spots all weekend. Ended up being the trip from hell. Go stay at lupine if you have a trailer. Better views of the lake and closer. What a shame, I hope they reword the description so no one has to go through what we did.

Spacious sites, clean bathrooms and friendly host. Good access to Bass Lake, on the quiet side of the lake. Be aware that the sign says Wishon Point

Camp host was super friendly and helpful. Facilities were clean. Location was great to access the lake and having Miller’s next door for food and drinks.

Lovely campground, clean and accessible washroom. There's also a restaurant 2 min away with a mini grocery store that has everything you might need for camping. The lake is very scenic and has a lot of options for water sports as well.

We had camp site 45 and enjoyed every bit of it! Great view to the lake and restrooms close by. A special thanks to our host Vicki. She was the best and definitely knows her way around the area. We'll definitely be coming back.

This is an incredible campsite. I had never been to Bass Lake before booking this trip, and it far exceeded my expectations. We booked the group 3 site, and woke up surrounded on 3 sides by water. Right around the corner is Miller's Landing, which has everything you need (firewood, snacks), and rents boats that are less expensive than the more commercial companies in the area. Couldn't recommend it more highly!

Camping at Bass Lake was great. We stayed at Wishon Camp near the dam. Some of the campsites were without shade trees and some were without good places to pitch tents because the sites were on slopes. We had a decent place with a mild slope for the tents but the fire pit was definitely on a slope. That was interesting. Bathrooms were clean and nearby all sites. No showers but the lake was good for that. All sites seemed to have fire pits, barbeque pits, and a picnic bench. Wishon Camp is very close to a resort and summer camp. People at one of those places were loud at night but probably within the hours to do so. There are some stores and restaurants affiliated with resorts that you can hit up for things you may have forgotten (like firewood and fishing worms) and also a more complete shopping experience on the other side of the lake that most likely has everything you need. Because of the pandemic some of the campgrounds were closed so the whole lake was not crowded at all. We caught some great weather mid-April which was on the cool side but nice and warm in the sun. Perfect for bike rides along the road that surrounds the lake. The water was chilly but we swam in it anyway. By chance we did not encounter any pesky bugs for the whole 3 day camp. Our favorite part was the hike approaching Angle Falls. We stopped at several points to take pictures of the cascading water and test our courage to jump in the pools. Eventually we dipped in but be forewarned...that water is cold! We have plans for a return visit maybe when the waters are warmer and also to make it up higher along the waterfall hike. Bass lake was definitely a great place to visit.

This campground is close to the lake and boat launching. Every site is on a hill and not well developed. The road is narrow and curvy so could be hard for your trailer. We made it work with our 24’. The sites could be better developed and useful. Bathrooms were clean. I guess you pay to be near the lake.
