Trumbull Lake Campground is highly praised for its cleanliness and well-maintained facilities, with many reviewers highlighting the exceptional camp host, Kimo, who is friendly, helpful, and attentive. The campground offers beautiful scenery and easy access to hiking trails and fishing opportunities, making it an enjoyable destination for outdoor enthusiasts. A Beautiful Campground and well maintained...the campsite was trash free at our arrival and the bathrooms were clean...Kimo the Camp Host was friendly and keeps a well run campground.
The Trout fishing at Big Virginia Lake was excellent and the girls went on a horseback riding day trip from Packstation.

Campgrounds "at the end of the road" always have appeal, and when added to the scenic beauty of the eastern Sierra and a friendly lake, this location is a real winner. There were two additional things that made this a standout, however. First, there was just a little bit of infrastructure in the area. The Virginia Lakes Resort is somewhere one could get ice, a few other camping necessities, and a really good burger (or breakfast, I suppose, though we didn't try that). Good for those situations where cooking is just too much. The resort has boats to rent and a small launch area available for your own boat (for a $5 fee) on Virginia Lake, a little ways downvalley and across the road from Trumbull Lake. Also nearby is the Virginia Lakes pack station, which provides a number of trail rides into the adjacent Hoover Wilderness. Second, and most important, is that this year we had the most marvelous campground host. Kimo took obvious pleasure in making sure the campground was in order -- so much so that we immediately noticed that the pit toilets were the cleanest we could recall. He also gently (unless a firmer had was called for) made sure that the rules were adhered to. Particularly tough when there are forest-wide bans on campfires for instance. Overall, someplace to which we'd happily return.

My weeklong experience was very peaceful and relaxing at Trumbull CG. The area is well maintained and well managed. Kumo, the camp host is a very valued employee as he never seems to stop making certain the whole are is up to par, knows when all of "his" guests are coming and going and always ready to help with a great attitude. Mr Ruland says "Thank You" for the nice stay and will be back next year.

2nd stay at Trumbull. Really peaceful and quiet campsite with lots to do nearby (hiking, fishing, kayaking, general store nearby for your basic needs, etc.). Unfortunately, on our third day we were told by the camp host that fires would no longer be allowed due to an abundance of caution by the state of CA as a result of all of the wildfires that were currently burning up near Tahoe and in other areas. I totally get it, and the last thing we wanted to see (or be responsible for) is another wildfire, but it was a bummer that we couldn't have our campfires in the evenings. Overall though, I would definitely come back.

The best there is! I camp all summer in a tent and this is the best camp ground! Kimo, the man who runs the site is exceptional, we met last year and he will do anything to help! Every year I go here!

Beautiful place as always. My biggest takeaway is how wonderfully the campground is kept. You won’t find cleaner better smelling bathrooms anywhere. Our host Kimo was very efficient in quieting loud music and was always available and willing to meet everyone’s needs. He is the best!
