What Guests Are Saying
Convict Lake Campground offers a stunning location with beautiful views, clean facilities, and friendly hosts, making it an ideal spot for both short stopovers and extended stays. The campground is well-maintained, with daily bathroom cleaning and convenient amenities like firewood sales and a nearby store. However, many sites lack shade and privacy, and bear encounters can be an issue, particularly for campers with food safety concerns. Overall, visitors appreciate the serene environment and recreational opportunities available in this picturesque area.

Family had a great week fishing at the lake and sleeping overnight in the campground. Restroom facilities were kept clean in campground. Only negative would not be the campground but the lakeside area which is becoming more and more a party lake and not a fisherman's retreat with groups of people splashing and playing in the lake (disturbing fishing) as well as some houseboats not following no-wake rules and going full speed across lake causing large water wakes by shore. Also, parking rules are not enforced at all by forest service so folks just park how ever they want and are never cited for egregious parking violations.

Great place to camp. It does get windy so make sure you strap everything down good.

My family and I have been camping at Convict lake for well over 20 years. It is our happy place and we always look forward to our trips there. We have experienced many camp hosts, but the campground has never been as organized and welcoming as it has been since Denis took over. My family and I look forward to seeing him each trip. He is very helpful and works his butt off to keep the campground nice.

I had an upsetting experience related to the campground manager at Convict Lake. I was aware of the rules for running a generator in advance of my stay. However, one morning the campground manager knocked on the door of my RV and in a very accusatory manner, told me that I had ran my generator early that morning during the quiet time. I informed him that he was mistaken - I hadn't turned my generator on until the allowed time. His attitude soured my entire day and I won't be returning to that campground again.

Sites are fairly private. Unfortunately, I had some loud neighbors that were drinking and playing music and laughing which ruined some of the time out there - luckily they would quiet down early and the night was peaceful. But once I walked to the lake, I was free from their nonsense. The campground and lake are right off the 395 so it's easy to access. Beautiful place!

The lake is just too beautiful unfortunately the weather wasn't great but what can you do right? That's camping. I'm not sure who's cleaning the bathrooms but wow...clean every time I went, do bring you're own hand soap though.
Here's the bad, camp site 011 layout. There's plenty of space in the shrubs surrounding the site that could have been cleared so not sure why they didn't do that. First of all there's stairs to enter the site so be carful at night when loading and unloading your gear.
Second, the site is it's self is pretty small already and to make it worse it's split between to separate levels. put lights on the steps or someone will trip over these steps as someone did in our group.
The site is SO small that we could barely fit the fire ring, picnic bench, our cooking table and (3) 10x8 tents. Site 11 isn't even the most awkward camp site. There's one in the # 20's that had a full flight of stairs and an even smaller camp clearing. Please study the image of the camp site if your camping with more than (2) tents.
