What Guests Are Saying
Convict Lake Campground offers a stunning location with beautiful views, clean facilities, and friendly hosts, making it an ideal spot for both short stopovers and extended stays. The campground is well-maintained, with daily bathroom cleaning and convenient amenities like firewood sales and a nearby store. However, many sites lack shade and privacy, and bear encounters can be an issue, particularly for campers with food safety concerns. Overall, visitors appreciate the serene environment and recreational opportunities available in this picturesque area.

Perfect location, beautiful scenery, quiet, perfect for a stopover on the way to Yosemite - or for longer.

Unless you're in the upper loop near the creek, then you have no functioning trees at all. So you're baking under the sun the whole day. Majority of the sites have no natural barrier so you're pretty much exposed to everyone. Tent space is limited in most site. We got lucky with our space with the picnic table not chained so we moved it to make space for our tent. But the 1-star ding is for the rangers letting that noise go on way pass the 10pm curfew. When 99% of the whole campground is in quiet mode, that 1% is the worse.
Bathrooms attended everyday. Firewood sold and delivered. Nearby store has everything. Sky is clear at night. Deer passing by your tent quite a bit. Creek is peaceful. Lake is amazing. Daily gust from 2pm to 5pm. Will definitely visit again, but won't unless its the upper loops.

Great spot. A little small for a 12 person tent but overall an excellent site.

Perfect basecamp for the trailhead or entering John Muir Wilderness. Little to no ground cover or trees in the campground besides some thinned out Aspen so not a lot of privacy at any site, but that's fine if you're here only to sleep between recreational activities. Remember that weather up here can change quickly regardless of forecast and it will be much colder and windier than the lower altitude even a few miles away. Stake down sufficiently and prepare for wet or cold. Convict Lake is a gorgeous backdrop and it's a gift to be able to be this close to the lake and walk to the shore from your site. Camp host (and his pup) is very friendly and helpful.
