What Guests Are Saying
French Meadows offers a beautiful and remote camping experience with clean facilities, spacious sites, and easy access to a lovely lake for swimming and kayaking. Campers appreciate the quiet atmosphere and helpful staff, though some note that the roads can be challenging and the descent to the water is steep and rocky, making it less suitable for families with young children. Overall, visitors enjoy the scenic views, cleanliness, and tranquility of the campground.

This is a very nice, well kept, and secluded campground. We had a great time, with easy access to the water for swimming and sailing. All but one of the restrooms were closed to conserve water, with either vault toilets or port-a-potties available throughout the rest of the campground. We packed water with us, but the drinking water spigots were on, as described on recreation.gov. Overall, a fantastic place to camp and well worth the drive.

Wasn’t able to go because the air quality was so bad. Pretty ridiculous I was still able to book this campsite without any warning that air quality was so poor.

Our stay was excellent. Very clean campsite that was tended to everyday. Staff was also nice and friendly. The walk to the water is a bit steep but it was good exercise. We were not very successful fishing but also fished off the shoreline and it’s not the best time of year. Also didn’t use live/real bait so definitely bring some! Overall it was an awesome experience and a good use of vacation time!

Water temp was warm which was great. Morning and late evening the water was perfect. Mid afternoon the wind picked up so the he lake wasn’t as accessible but there are other nice areas to enjoy.
