What Guests Are Saying
French Meadows offers a beautiful and remote camping experience with clean facilities, spacious sites, and easy access to a lovely lake for swimming and kayaking. Campers appreciate the quiet atmosphere and helpful staff, though some note that the roads can be challenging and the descent to the water is steep and rocky, making it less suitable for families with young children. Overall, visitors enjoy the scenic views, cleanliness, and tranquility of the campground.

My rating for French Meadows Campground is poor. The boat ramp is too shallow to launch a boat which is the only way to fish in this lake. There is no shore fishing since the water is too warm for the trout. We went specifically to fish and were not able to. Came home a day early.

With surprisingly cool weather coming in we had a VERY windy start to our trip. Fortunately the camp was mostly empty and the camp host kindly let us switch to a more sheltered site. The location was beautiful and the facilities just fine. We always enjoy visiting French Meadows and will be back next year!

Overall this is a scenic and quiet campground. We had beautiful views of the reservoir and mountains. There were a few things that made the visit less enjoyable. The bathrooms nearest to us were not functioning and they had portapottys instead. The reservoir level was pretty low because were in a drought. This meant that the walk down to the water line was pretty long and tricky. The road to the campground was long and winding but it was beautiful. The water lines were repaired so there was running water but it wasn't drinkable. Overall this is a really nice place to camp and it just needs some bathroom repairs and rain to fill the reservoir, not it's fault :-)
