What Guests Are Saying
French Meadows offers a beautiful and remote camping experience with clean facilities, spacious sites, and easy access to a lovely lake for swimming and kayaking. Campers appreciate the quiet atmosphere and helpful staff, though some note that the roads can be challenging and the descent to the water is steep and rocky, making it less suitable for families with young children. Overall, visitors enjoy the scenic views, cleanliness, and tranquility of the campground.

Flush toilets were out of order but vault toilets were very clean. Nice campsites with a great view!

French Meadows offers a quiet campground with fishing, swimming, walking, and campfires. I like it because it seems to attract people who enjoy the peaceful outdoors. No loud music, parties, or boat motors. Me and nature.

We went around the end of sept. Pretty much had the place to ourselves. A bit chilly but had a great time. Water level was low and fishing was not productive. But had a nice time just relaxing and enjoying the beauty around us.

The campsites were clean and (mostly) quiet. I was hoping to get in some more fishing, but the reservoir was very low.

We reserved 2 campsites at French Meadows on labor day weekend and had a group of about 10. The campsites are large and spread out. The lake is nice, if a little rocky on the shore. We brought the dogs, swam, hiked around and went stargazing.
The only thing to be aware of is that the road in is very windy and it takes about an hour and a half to drive the 40 miles from Forest Hill. Also we had no cell service (TMobile) which was perfect to get away and disconnect.
Overall we will be back for sure.
