Great place to stay for exploring this part of the woods and Hetch-Hetchy! There are tons of forest roads around for exploring the general area, the campground itself is lovely, and the lake is close enough to walk there in well under 10 minutes. The host here was great, one of my favorites of all time; friendly, knowledgable about the area (nooks + crannies to explore), and actually in love with the outdoors. Bear in mind you're an hour away from almost anything except for forests :)

The drive was a little ominous, but worth it once you get there! The lake is absolutely beautiful and the campground was great! 10/10 recommend!

So I’ve stayed at many campsites and thought the past reviews of winding roads seemed a bit exaggerated. It truly wasn’t a exaggeration so if you tend to get motion sickness I don’t recommend.
Campsite was very clean and maintained. Never met anyone while I was there seemed to be empty when leaving.
This is what made our stay absolutely horrible… Yellowjackets and bumble bees! We couldn’t do anything without being swarmed. When we even tried to cook they started to become aggressive and began to attack as we packed up. I was stung repeatedly. We just packed and left to another campsite. Horrible experience.
