What Guests Are Saying
Cherry Valley campground offers a clean, well-maintained environment with friendly hosts, particularly JJ, who is praised for his helpfulness. The restrooms are consistently clean, and the scenic Cherry Lake provides a peaceful setting, though access involves a steep hike. While some campers noted the remote location and challenges finding activities, most enjoyed the spacious campsites and overall positive camping experience, with many expressing a desire to return.

Pleasant campground with good space between sites and clean bathrooms. Currently a water shortage (April 2021) so the only running water spigot is at the entrance, and the lake is lower than normal.
Note that the lake is a short hike away, not right next to the campground. The host is relatively new but very friendly and happy to share information.
The best hikes are across the dam and a short drive up a very rocky dirt road, towards the Emigrant and Yosemite Wildernesses. (Bring a physical or downloaded map to find the trailheads; signs are not always clear.)

So close to the lake, nice clean outhouses. Limited water but that's ok, what they had was super pure.
Not private camping by any means. Can hear other camps easily, some laughing and having fun until about 11pm, not crazy at all just people enjoying themselves *so it was ok with us* but if you want silence in the pines this may not be it for you.

Beautiful, serene campground. If you camp on the western side of the campground you will hear the creek rushing at night-so peaceful! Looked like some of the campsites had views of the lake on the eastern side of the campground. Bathrooms were super clean. We were glad we brought a canopy, it got really hot in the campsite (site 9) during the day (first weekend of May). There is no walking path to the lake, but it’s just a short drive. Sat by the lake and watched bald eagles fly all afternoon. Even had a super cold dip-lake barely 50 degrees, if that. You need all-wheel drive to get over the damn and make it over to Lake Eleanor, heads up! We will definitely be back for another relaxing, quiet weekend someday.
