Many reviews highlight proximity to Yosemite, beautiful scenery, and a nearby creek for recreation. Beautiful campground. Our site was closest to the river, so at night you can hear the water. Super quiet campground, hardly any trailers, mostly tent campers, no generator noise. Very nice. This site was private enough, far away from the next camp site. The trail down to the water is next to the site, but there is enough space to where it is not an issue with people walking by (there was trees/brush separating us from the trail). The river is clean and there is shady areas to sit at, shallow enough for the kids to play comfortably in the water.

Site 19 was very nice! Close to the trail that leads to the river, and near the bathrooms - but not super close.
The bathrooms were cleaned/ stocked daily and didn't smell, despite being a vault toilet.
There were a lot of squirrels, ravens, mountain/ stellar jays, and a variety of other smaller birds. We also enjoyed seeing local cows grazing along evergreen road during the day. The stars were so amazing at night and there is firewood for sale with the camp host. The fire pit and grill worked well, and the grill had a swivel to move it over and away from over the fire. There was also a platform above the grill, attached by a pipe which stayed warm enough to set your cast iron or coffee pot on top of.
The campground is very close to Hetch Hetchy reservoir where you can hike to wapama waterfall. Start the hike early, wear a hat, sunblock, and bring a couple liters of water because it gets very hot in the summer ( we were there in late July).
Camp Mather has a general store, too!

Great Campground. Annoying Campgroundmanager who runs his Generator 24/7. Not very helpful when asking for one of the many free Sites instead of having to use three different sites (booked due to availability issues). Had to pay double fee for three nights. Annoying.

Nice small campground, very quiet, kind managers, quite far from the park centre but at least it wasn't full in the peak months.

We love Dimond O. Its swimming hole was waist-deep for adults, even in August and in a drought! We spotted one big rattlesnake and lots of squirrels and crows. In case it isn't clear from the listing: pit toilets and spigots with fresh water are available; there are no sinks or showers. The campground hosts have firewood for sale (cash only) and are very friendly, driving around nightly to check on everyone. Their generator is so loud that we appreciated them only using it for a few hours at a time.
