Great campsite, close drive to Yosemite, and not nearly as crowded. Bathroom facilities in USFS sites are better than the park as well. We would definitely go again.

This is a good campground to explore the Hetch Hetchy area of Yosemite. The road into the campground is a bit bumpy and narrow in places. It is about a 45 minute drive to Yosemite Valley. This is a fairly remote campground without many services close by, a good idea to have your supplies with you. You can explore the other areas of Yosemite such as Lake Tenaya and Olmstead Point along Hwy 120 east as well, once again about 45 minutes to one hour drive. Overall Dimond O is a quiet campground, just vault type toilets and no hookups. Usually you can book the campground on shorter notice than any of the Yosemite campgrounds. However, be sure to take plenty of mosquito repellant.

The campsite was great. Lots of space for tents, good amount of space for vehicle. There was a fire pit and log benches around to sit on. There was also a picnic table. I scored a spot just a handful of yards away from the stream.

My only setback was that the day I had hope to get some solitude and lay in my hammock next to the stream they were doing some sort of log/brush clearing. And construction on the road or something. At 8 am I was rattled by the sound of commercial grad chain saws and road graders. So my day of solitude was spoiled. I ended up packing up my entire camp and taking off. So sadly I did not get to enjoy the setting. When I booked the site there was no fore-warning of any work that was to be done or construction notice.

From the minute we arrived I was in love! Gorgeous trees towering over us keeping us cool from the hot sun as we set up camp. The stream below us was cold and inviting to dip our hot feet in after setting up. There were a heard of cows who walked down to the stream each day with cowbells chiming - so cool! The facilities were clean. The sites are quite large/spacious - with great fire ring pits. Super close to the front gate of Yosemite. Will definitely be back!

Secluded campground with lots of trees and shade. We had a 27 ft RV and had no problem pulling in. We did have to level it but no biggie.
