What Guests Are Saying

Lost Claim offers a great camping experience with spacious and clean sites that feel secluded, enhanced by beautiful views and ample tree cover. The campground is well-maintained, with friendly management and convenient access to nearby attractions like Yosemite and local grocery stores. While there are minor drawbacks, such as limited restroom supplies and some noise from wildlife, the overall ambiance and natural beauty make it a desirable destination.

Spots were clean, and had ample room between other campers. This campground was close enough for trips to Yosemite, Hetch Hetchy and Bass Lake among others. There’s a gas station and multiple camp/grocery stores less than 10 miles away. Not that many bugs/mosquitos for Memorial Day weekend so that was a plus. There were really loud cows on the hills above the campground though so ear plugs helped.

Camp No Sleep. We stayed here in early August and since it is so close to the highway, every passing car going over the rumble strips woke us up. They also started winter storm repair operations with heavy machinery nearby at 3am. Our day in Yosemite was pretty unpleasant due to the lack of sleep. Even if the forestry operations are complete, the highway with the rumble strip in the center divider will always be there, so don't reserve here unless you're a *very* heavy sleeper.

As for positives: The camp ground hosts were very kind and there was good blackberry picking for a tasty breakfast.

1) Our site (9) and several others have hardly any level or near level areas to pitch a tent and the table could not be leveled in any direction. So we used the top of the bear box to cook our food
2) The sign at the entrance said "FULL" yet most of the sites had signs saying "OPEN". No change in the 3 days we were there.
3) This is supposedly a "BEAR" area and we appreciated having food box at the site BUT just outside the restroom ther are 2 standard metal trash cans with standard lids same as you can get at any hardware store. both of these had trash along with metal cans inside. No need for bears to be smart to open these things

Me and my Fiancé stayed here for one night on our way to Santa Cruz from Bishop. The campsite and campground was surprisingly beautiful in August. we look very forward to staying here again soon.

The site was big enough for multiple tents, but the road to the site is unpaved and very dusty in the summer.
