This is the worst of the 60 federal campgrounds I’ve stayed in in the past 3 months. Campsites are small and crowded together. The camp Host started his very loud generator before 7:30 am. My campsite description online did not match my actual campsite. Description said it could fit a 38 foot vehicle while it was actually a tiny walk-in campsite sandwiched between two paved roads.

The Pines is a quiet campground. Close to lots of hiking and the river for swimming/fishing. The sites are large and many have great shade.

Pretty basic no frills campground. Bathrooms were quite aromatic in a not so desirable way. Our specific site had shin high thistle like weeds such that you had to watch where you walked at all times. The campground host was pleasant and the fellow campers were quiet. No issues as it was just a layover for us returning from Yosemite.

A clean, well maintained campground within proximity to Yosemite. Pavement road into the campground 1/3-mile off of Hwy 120 made for easy access. Other campers were quiet and respectful.
