Site 55 is not available, belongs to camp host Mauricio, he was the main reason this trip was so good, he was accomodating, full of insights, recomendations, kept campground neat, squirrels kept at bay beacuse of Spartacus-Mauricio's trained dog. From info to wood, Mauricio was ready to help. Thanks for everything, already recommended camp to all my friends, they 2 families are actually there this weekend, and im looking for dates to get back there.

Great location on the Kern River and right next to Johnny McNally's Lodge with great steaks a little hotel and general store. Bring some portable shade as most sites have very little, But hands down this is my favorite place along the Kern.

We stayed at site 15 and loved it! There’s a little beach where we hung out and fished. Something of note: there’s was no shade! Some folks showed up next to us and ended up moving due to the lack of shade. So bring a pop up or you’ll fry.

Really a great campground on the banks of the roaring Kern River. One caveat: Jets from Edward’s Air Force Base scream overhead on weekdays, up the canyon, shattering the peace and quiet. They flew over 4-16 times/day while we were there and one NEVER gets used to it…just ask the locals. Seems like the military could find a less-populated canyon to practice their little war games. It’s really loud when the fly over.

This a fantastic campground. Maury, the camp host, was friendly, helpful and always cruising the campground.. Got a bit of snow but we were toasty warm inside the teardrop. Had the campground to ourselves probably due to the snow. The asphalt at some of the sites is getting pretty torn up and could use a refresh.

It was a very pleasant experience. We went during mid week in October and the place was almost empty.…just the way we like it. We’ll be back!!

Off of Highway 99 in Bakersfield, California, take Highway 178 east to Lake Isabella.
From Lake Isabella take Highway 155 around the west side of the lake to
the town of Kernville. From Kernville go north on Sierra Way/Mountain 99 for
16 miles to the campground.
Fairview Campground is accessible via Highway 99 and Highway 178. From Highway 99 in Bakersfield, travel east on Highway 178 to reach Lake Isabella, then take Highway 155 around the lake to Kernville.
