What Guests Are Saying

College campground offers beautiful lakeside views, a peaceful atmosphere, and friendly, attentive hosts. The restrooms are regularly cleaned and well-maintained, enhancing the camping experience. While there are some issues with noise from large groups on weekends and occasional cleanliness concerns in the campsites, many guests express a desire to return for the overall enjoyable experience.

We stayed at College consecutive Thursdays in June. The bathrooms at College are amazing -- clean and well maintained. Our campsite, however, was found strewn with trash both times; not cleaned or prepared prior to our arrival either time (the reservation placard was still written for the previous occupant who had left several days earlier, so not sure a host had even been through the sites in days). The BBQ grills in our double site were broken off of both fire pits. Despite the unfortunate trash situation, College is a great place to camp.

Running water with a flushable toilet. The lake was near and stock with plenty of fish. We had a blast here.

Small campground with one flushing toilet restroom and one vault restroom. Site 9 is near the vault restroom, so it sometimes it was a little stinky. Overall, beautiful views of Huntington Lake during the daytime and stargazing at nighttime. Campsite had enough bushes and shrubs for privacy. There were plenty of water spigots around the campground.

Great campground. Moderately wooded for some shade, yet clear enough for good views of the lake and mountains. (Beetle kill over the past 10 years took out about 70% of the trees. Very few bugs, Close to the lakeshore, for easy access to a short beach we keep our sailboat and kayak at during our visit. Well maintained facilities. Easy access to stream fishing on Big Creek, although very few fish in my experience since the Big Creek fire in 2020. Mono Hot Springs (45 drive over rugged Kaiser Pass) is always an adventurous trip. Good fishing at S. Fork San Juaquin River upstream from the hot springs. Beautiful hiking near the lake, but recommend Kaiser Wilderness across the street for short hikes or a day-long loop loop to the peak.
The double sites are great for larger groups.

We had three campsites -- 6, 8, and 9. #6 isn't great; very small and its tent pad is so close to #7 that it could be confused for #7's tent pad. More importantly, #8 was filthy. It had not been cleaned at all prior to our arrival and there was trash everywhere from previous tenants -- in the fire ring, on the ground, etc. We never saw a camp host or the maintenance truck/crew, and the check-in kiosk was closed when we arrived a little after 5pm. So there was no one to talk to. The bathrooms seemed in pretty good shape. Also a clue that this campground isn't well-serviced: all the hang tags on the campsites were from 3-4 days before our arrival and not in our name. They are supposed to put a tag on the site with your name and in/out dates.

Small campsite. Enough for 1 large tent or 2 small. Site has full sun in the afternoon. Incredibly clean bathrooms. Campsite staff is very friendly!

The campsite was very clean! The pit toilets were well-ventilated, exceptionally clean, and nearly odor free. Amazing. There are also flush toilets and a sink that is available for washing dishes. I was very impressed.
