To reiterate there are no showers and no electricity and pit toilets!
Decent cell service to make calls
Loved the ability to get away
Had an amazing stay, the hosts were very friendly, trail head nearby!
Great brewery basicallly down the street
The river nearby is very therapeutic
But potential for a lot of RVs/Trailers meaning generator noise…

This was such a great campground!! Love how we were surrounded by trees and got to walk to the creek. Also loved how each site had a bear box included!

The pictures of this campground absolutely do not give it justice. Just driving to the campground was amazing but actually seeing our site in person really made it. I can’t stress enough how nice the camp hosts were to us. Came and said hello right when we got there, always had a smile every time they pasted by us. The bathrooms were clean for what you can expect for a vault toilets and the dumpsters were close but not too close. The creek is walking distance and my husband actually caught a brown trout out of it. Overall the whole experience far exceeded our expectations and we will be camping at Sherwin Creek every time we head up to mammoth.

Our party booked a few campsites (19, 21, 24, 28, 29, 30). All great - except for 24 which was a bit slanted and would suit a smaller vehicle, but still beautiful!

Set in a forest of tall, plentiful pines (and summertime biting insects). Be prepared to keep your campsite/vehicle clean and free from temptation to “Kevin the Bear” and its friends. Seriously.

Sites had a metal ring fire pit w/metal grate for cooking, a small, standing grill, picnic table, and large metal bear proof food storage locker. Trash is picked up frequently from the nearby dumpsters/recycling bins.

Several spigots to fill up water are available. FYI: For a small fee, there is a RV dump station in town at the sanitation dept. Also fresh water fill at that county spot.

A reviewer mentioned motocross during June/July. Mammoth Motocross is a large race drawing in the top MX racers, mostly Western U.S. riders, that have qualified to race it. It is an event that feeds the local economy during their offseason. Look it up if booking in the summer. It’s weather dependent. So if the snow hasn’t melted on the track, it may be pushed to July or August. Good idea, in general, to look up local events beforehand. Especially if you’re sensitive to outdoor sporting event sounds.

Tony & Debbie are the best camp hosts ever! They run a tight ship, but aren’t intrusive, are super friendly, fun, and offer firewood for sale, too! Great experience!

ATT: We had 1 bar of service, if that. Not having WiFi and such was a bummer, but also a blessing as we spent more time offline. Very little ATT cell service in most of the Mammoth area for us.

Love that this campground is close to town but not “in” town. Sites are spaced apart nicely and well kept. We love camping (almost) yearly here.

We hiked up to Sherwin Lake and then Valentine Lake. It was absolutely gorgeous!!!! We saw three people the entire hike up so we had the whole lake to ourselves to fish. The fishing was awesome. So many brook trout. I want to come back here every summer.

Great campground close to town but so so quiet. Our site was great for our travel trailer but it's also got some great spots for tents, too. Bathrooms in campground were very clean!
