Campsite 004 is located beside the host's site. It is level and close to the restrooms. Old Shady Rest CG stays open a week later (3rd week) than most USFS campgrounds.

We stayed at site 10. I was a nice site but the entrance to the site was unnecessarily boxed in with rocks placed across the road from the site and at the corners of the entrance to the site. In combination with the existing trees, this made it very difficult to back the trailer in. I notice other sites had a flared entrance which would have been a big help. I would suggest a bit of work with the rocks on site 10 to help things.
The bathrooms were nice and clean and the campground was quit and clean. My compliments to those who do the cleaning work there.

This campground is in amongst lots of pine trees providing lots of shade. The bathrooms are in need of renovation. Since some of the campsites back up to a busy street and hotels, pick your site carefully. Some sites are very long and deep. This campground is very close to the town of Mammoth.

I stayed in site 44 and it was perfect. Lots of space around the spot so that I wasn't right next to anyone else. And easy access in and out of the campground. The short walk into town is so short, I'd say you're already in town. Bathrooms were clean but there was no soap.
