Be prepared for wind!!! We had site 15 which was excellent. The day we arrived 2 deer were just hanging out in our campsite. We had a double spot and even though we were right against the boat ramp, I feel like we had one of the best sites at the campground. Really big, lots of space and no close neighbors. The weather was perfect. Our 3 days there were incredible spent hiking, paddle boarding and visiting local attractions. Like all camping trips, just come prepared. One night the wind was crazy. A few times I thought our tent was going to take off. The other 3 nights we had a little wind, in the late afternoon, but as soon as the sun went down, it calmed down. Second thing to prepare for is mosquitos. Bring whatever works for you. We have camped in the mammoth area for years and honestly this site was one of our favorite. Some notable things... Most campers were super quite at night, camping host were really never to be seen (not that it was a bad thing, bring quarters for showers, only one set of 4 showers for entire campground and bring warm stuff for late evenings. Went under 40 degrees at night.

There was a mix-up with the Hosts and our space for our one night stay was sold (accidentally)
The Host at the time, Mark (I think), went out of his way to try find us a place, and eventually gave us a refund in cash. We found a camping spot for a few days at Twin Lakes out of Bridgeport, California (about an hour away).
Oh, well, stuff happens.
Our initial reaction to the Silver Lake Campground was that it was too crowded and too congested with tight camping spaces. We were not that disappointed to have to move on.
